Microsoft has announced that Windows 7(A great OS without any doubts) will be ending on January 14, 2020.

Microsoft will stop providing feature updates and security updates for Windows 7 after January 14, 2020. In June 2018, Netmarketshare announced the results of their survey and claimed that Windows 7 actually keeps it’s crown. According to their figures, Windows 7 machines account for 42.39% of all Windows personal computers. And although Windows 10’s progress is pretty impressive with it’s market share hitting 34.29%, the research by Netmarketshare illustrates that the latest Microsoft OS has yet to overcome its successful predecessor.

Which means many of the users will be left stranded after 14th June 2020, no security update will mean that the system will be vulnerable to external threats and viruses. So upgrading will be extremely necessary.

There are multiple options available like upgrading to Windows 8 or Windows 10, but these are kind of temporary solutions to your problems.

Alternative to that could be switching to a Mac device

Windows 7’s end can be a reason to finally switch into the Apple ecosystem. Apple has its own OS called MacOS, and the best part about it is that even after almost 6 to 7 years Apple will still provide OS updates to it. Apple devices have an amazingly long life when compared to a Windows device. Due to high optimisation even after many years a Mac does not feel like its slowing down.

Almost every application you use on Windows 7 can be run on the MacOS and it can run them even better. There are also a huge of alternative programs, and you can use Windows 10 in MacOS as well. Mac devices also retain their resale value better than a Windows machine.

MacOS is extremely secure and does not require any third party Antivirus software to save the systems from external threats like internet viruses and attacks like Ransomware. You can look at the MacOS security features here.
