The major outbreak of the Corona Virus in China is having a major impact on tech firms. The manufacturing of almost every tech gadget you use happens in China, and with a Virus outbreak, tech firms had to stop all the manufacturing, or the outbreak has slowed down the production line in one or the other way.

MWC Cancelled

MWC Barcelona is an annual trade show organized by GSMA, dedicated primarily to the mobile communications industry. The event is currently held in Barcelona, Spain at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, usually in February or early-March. This year Mobile World Congress was about to held on 24-27 February, but it is now canceled due to the Corona Virus Outbreak.

CEO John Hoffman of GSMA, the firm that hosts MWC every year, said the coronavirus outbreak has made it “impossible” to hold the event.

With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has canceled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event. The Host City Parties respect and understand this decision. The GSMA and the Host City Parties will continue to be working in unison and supporting each other for MWC Barcelona 2021 and future editions. Our sympathies at this time are with those affected in China, and all around the world.
